~ Clearer, Brighter, Lighter ~
"Today is September 13. I started my 21 day detoxification program on July 24. You told me it would change my life, and you are right and I know this is just the beginning to enjoying optimum health. The changes I have already experienced are:
Physical Improvements - I lost 14 pounds, most of which was body fat. Also, before detox I always experienced swelling in my feet, ankles and hands. After detox I have little to no swelling even at the end of the day.
What is a Detox Cleanse?
"Detoxification is the process of neutralizing or transforming and removing toxins from the body."
The detox cleanse we recommend at Well Life Place involves dietary and lifestyle changes that reduce the intake of toxins and improve the elimination of toxins, all while incorporating healthy eating habits. Almost everyone needs to detoxify.
Why Detox Cleanse?
Even if we try to live the cleanest life, sometimes exposure to toxins is beyond our control. From natural internal metabolic processes in the body, to environmental pollution, to pesticides in our food, our body is constantly being bombarded with toxins. It has 3 ways to deal with them... bury them in body fat, deposit them in the tissues, or remove them. Our detox cleanse helps with the latter.
Toxicity occurs in our bodies when we take in more than we can utilize and eliminate. A toxin may produce an immediate and rapid onset of symptoms or cause long-term, negative effects. We usually detoxify to rest our overloaded organs of digestion, the liver and kidneys. Through detoxification, we clear toxins to allow our bodies to work on enhancing basic functions. We also detoxify to clear unpleasant symptoms, treat disease, and prevent further health problems.
Benefits of a Detox Cleanse:
The decision to detoxify is based on individual lifestyle and symptoms of toxicity. Common toxicity symptoms include: headache, fatigue, mucus problems, aches and pains, digestive problems, "allergy" symptoms, and sensitivity to environmental agents such as chemicals, perfumes, and synthetics.
Not all detox cleanse programs are created equal, some are extreme, other ineffective and some may not be safe for you. Jess and I are certified Detox & Weight Loss Coaches and will be happy to answer any question you may have. Just ask us!

Recipe of the Month
Savory Sheperd's Pie
1 chicken, cooked/baked de-boned and chopped small into pieces
2 cauliflower heads, chopped in small pieces
1 bunch Swiss Chard, chopped
½ cup carrots, chopped/diced small
½ cup frozen peas or green beans, chopped/diced very small.
1 large tomato, diced (optional)
½ large onion, diced
4 cloves of garlic, mashed
3 Tbs coconut oil
1-2 Tbs Butter
2 Tbs fresh parsley, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
1. Mashed Cauliflower - in a skillet or pan, heat up 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 2 cloves of mashed garlic and sauté until golden. Add cauliflower and lightly sauté it. Add just enough water cook it (you want it thick, not runny). When it is softly cooked, blend it with hand-held blender or mash it well. Add 1 -2 tablespoons of butter, season with salt and pepper to taste, mix well and set it aside.
2. Chicken - in a skillet or pan, heat up 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, add 2 clove of mashed garlic and sauté until golden. Add onions and cook until soft. Add carrots, peas or greens beans and cook for about 5 minutes. Add chicken and briefly sauté, mixing chicken and vegetables together. Season with salt and pepper to taste and set it aside.
3. Greens - in a skillet or pan, heat up 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, add greens and briefly sauté until wilted. Set aside.
4. Tomato - sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste and set it aside.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease a casserole or baking dish with butter or coconut oil; place a thin layer (about a third) of the mashed cauliflower on the bottom and spread it evenly. Add the chicken on top as the next layer, drain the greens well and place on top of chicken. Add diced tomatoes; cover with the rest of the mashed cauliflower.
Bake for about 30-40 minutes or until gently bubbling on the sides and/or slightly golden on top. Remove from the oven, sprinkle parsley on top, let it sit for 5 minutes, and serve hot and enjoy.
*This can be put together ahead of time and baked when needed.
