The human skeletal system is a complex organ in constant equilibrium with the rest of the body. In addition to the support and structure of the body, bone is the major reservoir for many minerals and other compounds essential for maintaining a healthy acid-base balance. The deterioration of the bone structure affects the elderly and most particularly women, who seem to be more susceptible to poor bone health starting at menopause. Issues such as osteopenia and osteoporosis, characterized by the weakening of the bone structure, can lead to bone fractures and other health problems that can be debilitating and life-altering.

AVOID DRUGS

Osteoporosis Drugs Are Dangerous!
Osteoporosis drugs like Fosamax, Bonita, Actonel, and others are called bisphosphonates. They do not cure osteoporosis, they do not build strong bones, and you can't take them for long because of their side effects.

Side Effects of Bisphosphonate Drugs:
1. Spontaneous fracture of femur (hip bone)

The Dog Days of Summer

The summer heat is here and it can be very depleting to the body. When our body is overheated and dehydrated we feel tired, and even simple activities can be exhausting. We want to help give your body the support it needs so that you enhance your sense of wellness, not deplete it. Have the best summer ever!

The tips below are intended to increase your energy, support exercise in heat, enhance your sense of well being, and help your body thrive!

The Importance of Hydration

Hydration is incredibly important to thrive in the summer heat, and it's more complex than just making sure you drink a ton of water!

Adequate hydration has become more complex because our water doesn't come from a fresh spring. You might be drinking plenty of water, but still not getting hydrated. I recommend you make sure your water has minerals and electrolytes in it. If you use tap water, make sure it is filtered to remove chemicals. When buying water, avoid plastic containers, and choose miner...

Metabolism & Weight Loss

The topic of healthy nutrition and weight loss is hot right now and metabolism is the new buzz word! Recent research shows that long-term weight loss is related to how a person's metabolism adjusts and adapts to changes in their diet and activity level. That is why we guide our patients through change in nutrition lifestyle and habits, and advise against dieting. Besides diets being hard, most people gain the weight back after going on a weight loss diet. That's because the actual mechanism of burning fuel doesn't change. For this to happen, one has to get the body to change metabolism and keep it switched.

What is Metabolism

Metabolism is the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy. During this complex biochemical process, calories in food and beverages are combined with oxygen to release the energy your body needs to function.

Even when you're at rest, your body needs energy for all its "hidden" functions, such as breathin...

The need to supplement our diet with vitamins has never been so great. The food we eat today is not the same that was eaten 50-100 years ago. Our soil is so depleted that our farm crops depend on the chemical fertilizers to grow; making our food devoid of essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals and trace minerals we need for survive and to stay healthy. This is why eating a balanced diet is no longer enough and why we have to compensate for the loss of "value" in our food with vitamins and supplements.

Knowing that not all vitamins are made equal, I made sure to know about vitamin quality and researched what companies produce supplementation with truly natural ingredients. I only carry high quality products for both safety but also efficacy. I hope the information below clear some of the confusion and help you make better choices.
